MEETING CALLED TO ORDER: 7:00 PM by Supervisor, Jim Boggio
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

MINUTES: MM/S Keith/Johnson to approve the April minutes - Vote 4-0
TREASURER’S REPORT: Report Accepted
APPROVAL OF BILLS: MM/S Sherk/Johnson to approve - Vote 4-0
SUPERVISOR’S REMARKS AND CORRESPONDENCE: Called attention to budgeted amount for renovation of the Schoolhouse/Community Building and to the donation made by the Healy family in the amount of $2,000. He also said the Water Board would be meeting and would discuss the next project to be started this summer.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Volunteer Fire Department - Mike Radigan. Plans for a Dry Hydrant in the Gratiot Lake area are going forward. Don Keith added that the DNR is sending an application form for a permit for that installation. Grant money may be available from the DNR to help with that project. Ed Stoneman said that a hydrant could possibly be installed at the pump house serving the Academy. Also, it was noted that the Rural Development Commission has been granting money for new fire trucks in rural areas and other money may be available at low interest rates. Applications are being acquired to seek this funding.
Water & Well-head Protection Committee - John Wakeman. Jim Boggio reported that a letter should be coming from the Michigan Health Department supporting the need for additional acreage for well-head protection.
Cemetery Committee - John Pippenger (Absent). Twenty-two people worked to clean up the cemetery on Saturday, May 9th. Sexton Don Keith expressed his appreciation for their help. At Don’s request, Jim Boggio asked that Patty Keith replace Don as Sexton and that the salary for the Sexton position be raised from $1.00 per day to $500.00 per year. MM/S Johnson/Sherk to accept Boggio’s recommendation - Vote 3 aye, Don Keith abstained.
Solid Waste Committee - Bruce Olsen (Absent). The Solid Waste Facility is now being monitored on TV Channel 61. Boggio asked that residents be alert to any illegal dumping, especially of construction materials. Clarence Bach presented the recommendation of the committee for summer hours. Saturday 9-12, Sunday 3-5 pm, and Wednesdays 10-12 am. Committee’s recommendation was accepted and summer hours will begin Saturday, May 16th. The information will be posted on Gratiot Lake Bulletin Board, the Cable and at the Solid Waste Facility.
