EAGLE HARBOR TOWNSHIP BOARD

May 14, 2001

CALL TO ORDER AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: The regular meeting of the Eagle Harbor Township Board was called to order at 7 p.m. on May 14, 2001 by Supervisor Boggio at the Eagle harbor Township Hall on Center Street in Eagle Harbor. Supervisor Boggio led the Pledge of Allegiance.

MEMBERS PRESENT: Supervisor Boggio, Clerk Olson, Treasurer Johnson, Trustees Ellis and Lantz

MEMBERS ABSENT - None

AGENDA APPROVAL AND ADDITIONS - Supervisor Boggio added County Commissioner Don Keith to the Agenda. MM/S Olson/Johnson to approve the agenda with that addition. 5 Ayes, 0 Nays - Motion Carried.

CONSENT AGENDA APPROVAL - MM/S Johnson/Ellis to approve the consent agenda as presented.

SUPERVISOR’S REMARKS AND CORRESPONDENCE:

COMMITTEE REPORTS

BEACH COMMITTEE – Fred Geis-Absent-No report

CEMETERY COMMITTEE – Ginny Schubert –

Thanks to Don Keith for his many years of service as cemetery sexton.

Cemetery Cleanup will be Sun May 20 at 1 p.m.

Memorial Day Service will be at the Cemetery Mon May 28 at 10 a.m. Small

flags will be placed on veteran’s graves on Sunday at 1 p.m. Helen Knight

has offered to serve Coffee and Cookies at the Township Hall after the

Service.

The cemetery sign has been repaired and painted by Doug & Ginny

Schubert and is ready to be put in place.

Volunteers are needed to help verify grids in the cemetery. Contact Ginny

Schubert if you can help.

SEXTON COMMENTS –Mike Braman – There are 3 burials scheduled for this spring.

HEBARD PLAT COMMITTEE – Jeane Olson – The Committee has been meeting with the Township Attorneys and has been in contact with some of the property owners in an effort to resolve the problems of the Plat. A copy of the report is attached.

LAND USE COMMITTEE - Doug Sherk – Absent - No Report

911 COMMITTEE - Doug Schubert – The readdressing company has been in the area and is proceeding with the project.

PARK COMMITTEE – George Hite – No Report

RECREATION COMMITTEE – Barb Sickler – Absent – No Report

SOLID WASTE COMMITTEE – Bruce Olson – Summer hours at the solid waste site begin May 15.

VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT – Mike Radigan – Ed Stoneman requested reimbursement for the insurance that the fire department has paid on the antique fire Truck that was taken out of service several years ago. The Clerk will check on how long the truck has been out of service and what the insurance premiums were and the Fire Department will be reimbursed.

WATER COMMITTEE – John Wakeman – Absent – No Report

WATER SYSTEM OPERATOR – Rick Finke – Absent - No report

WELLHEAD PROTECTION – Rick Finke - Absent – No Report

OLD BUSINESS

NEW BUSINESS

Motion carried. A letter will be written to the DEQ requesting denial of the permit and asking for a hearing.

There will be a Hearing on the 911 Addressing Ordinance on Tuesday,

June 12, 2001, at 6:30 p.m. at the County Court House.

M-26 will be resurfaced some time in June. It will take approximately 2

weeks.

Commissioner Keith, Continued

The Adopt – a – Highway Program is not getting enough pickups in this area. Commissioner Keith feels we would do a better job of cleaning up if MDOT returned the money to the county that they allocate for that program.
