REGULAR MEETING MINUTES

MEETING CALLED TO ORDER: 7:00 PM by Supervisor, Jim Boggio

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

MEMBERS PRESENT: Jim Boggio, Donald Keith, Jeane Olson, Gerald Johnson, John Clarkson

MEMBERS ABSENT: None

APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING: MM/S Olson/Johnson Vote 5-0.

TREASURER’S REPORT: Report dated May 2000 was accepted.

APPROVAL OF BILLS : MM/S Keith/Olson - Vote 5-0

SUPERVISOR’S REMARKS AND CORRESPONDENCE: The owner of the Shoreline Restaurant was introduced. License plates are for sale at the Eagle Harbor School and at the Shoreline Restaurant. Good news – Rick Fink passed his exams for the water department certification.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Volunteer Fire Department – Mike Radigan – Cost for the door, electric heater, and exhaust fan is $9,246.00. Would like to have plumbing and the heater put in at the same time. As a loan to the general fund.

Water & Well-Head Protection Committee – John Wakeman – The Eagle Harbor Township Board requests the Keweenaw County Zoning Board to adopt and/or review regulations for the use or storage of liquid contaminants, (especially residential heating oil or gasoline), in close proximity to lakes, streams or wells. Resolution made by John Clarkson supported by Jeane Olson. Roll call vote passed 5-0.

Cemetery Committee – Ginny Shubert – Thank you to Rev. Goodrich and Helen Knight for the Memorial Day service.

Solid Waste Committee – Bruce Olson – Bids are in on Solid Waste trash burner.

Beach Committee – Vern Robinson - Absent.

Recreation Committee – Barbara Sickler – The 4th of July will be celebrated on the 4th. The chains will be replaced on the swings. Also need sand at the bottom of the slides.

911 Committee – Doug Shubert – There is a local committee for redressing. The local committee consists of Vern Robinson, Barb Sickler, Jim Boggio, Ginny Shubert, Ann Boggio and Doug Shubert. The county is hiring a company to do the mapping of the county.

Schoolhouse Dedication – Doug Shubert – The dedication will be July 2nd starting at 3:30 PM, bell ringing at 4 PM, dedication ceremony at 5:00 PM and picnic at 5:30 PM. Charge for the picnic is $3.00 per person. The time capsule will be buried at 5 PM on the 2nd.
